This is my entry into the Nokia 3310 Game Jam #4 (Feb 2022) hosted by Phillip on Itch.io.

How To Play

To navigate the menus, use W, S for up and down, SPACE to select / continue. Alternatively use numbers 2 and 8 for up and down, 5 to select / continue.

Your ship is always moving, it just never stops, press SPACE (or number 5) to fire your ships primary weapon and change direction.  Thanks to the new technology, “Side Portal Projection”, your ship can safely exit the play area and re-enter from the other side – magic!

Collect the UPGRADE coins to upgrade your primary weapon, a total of 4 weapons!

Be careful out there as these aliens ain’t stupid, and they reproduce like crazy as you venture deeper and deeper into space.  They move faster and pull a few tricks as you advance.

Blast away and have 5 minutes of fun!

About The Development

NBlaster is my first ever Game Jam entry and was developed in BlitzMax from scratch / a blank page.  It’s been a while (like 6 years) since I have used BlitzMax, I’d forgotten just how much fun this language was.

I used the following tools to develop NBlaster

•  BlitzMax (NG) (Compiler)
•  VSCode (IDE)
•  BlitzMax For VSCode (Plugin)
•  HxD Hex Editor (For sprites)
